Giovanna Micarelli

Giovanna Micarelli is professor of anthropology at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá and guest researcher at the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. Her ethnographic research, primarily centered in Amazonia, is dedicated to bridging academic inquiry with support for indigenous peoples’ rights and recognition. She undertakes collaborative research on indigenous alternatives to Western development, intercultural health and education, territorial protection, food sovereignty, and the commons.
