Stephan Lorenz is an “außerplanmäßiger” (non-scheduled) professor of sociology and project leader at the institute of sociology, Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. His main fields of research include environmental and sustainable sociology with a focus on consumption, technologies, infrastructure, food, water, poverty, and social exclusion. His entry on Freedom of Choice results from many years of research, but the writing of it was made possible by current project funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (grant number 03ZU1214NA).
